MediaTek, Google Join Force in Smart TV SoC
January 07, 2015

MediaTek and Google unveiled the world's first smart TV SoC (System on Chip) MT5595, which is targeted at smart TVs that support Android TV OS (Operating System), at this year's CES (Consumer Electronics Show), reported United Evening News on January 7. The SoC has already entered mass production and MediaTek said that more Android TV devices running on this chip will hit the market in March 2015. Smart TVs running on Android TV can stream content from Google Play or from other media apps, as well as install and play games. Sony is reportedly to be the first TV brand to use the chip in its Android TVs.
